I am excited to see what Spring brings; it will make you smile because it’s all about fun prints, pretty orals and quirky motifs. You will see a lot of all-over prints featuring all sorts of weird and wonderful things such as goldfish, birds, cacti, cocktails, bananas or anything you can dream of. This Spring is going to be a whole lot of fun with inspiration from the very on trend pop culture and retro florals. The trick to dressing this Spring will be balancing the prints with complementary block colours or with a colour within the print. Team your printed dress with a neutral jacket or pick a colour from the dress print. This is when a stone coloured jacket always comes in handy. It goes with anything! You can also pair your dresses with a solid coloured oversized tote and shoes to ensure your outfit has balance. Accessories can help complete your look or change it from casual to dressy.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match prints. A good tip for making this work is to mix bigger and smaller prints together. Stripes and spots are considered neutrals in the print world so you can wear these with any of the wonderful pop art prints. You can also mix big florals with small ditsy flowers. Just remember that the colour matches are important, they should be complimentary to each other or tonal. One of my favourite recent purchases is my New David Pond Daisy Jacket. It’s a fun short sleeved leatherette jacket with embroidered flowers. I’m going to be wearing it as a casual and dressy piece, so I can either wear it with a printed dress to a wedding or date night with hubby. It will look great as well if I wear it work with Jeans and a printed tee. Spring is time to have fun, look feminine and if you dare start moving away from the best colour black. It’s an opportunity to show our personalities and push the fashion boundaries.
